Magical and unwieldy, Golems were not so much birthed into the universe as much as created. With great regenerative powers and a body inflexible to change, it is a mystery as to their function in life. The only way to become a Golem is through the Gargoyle race and the remort command.

Golems are tied with Ents for having the highest racial damage modifier, save for Lord Firedrakes. However, unlike Ents, Golems have the second best available racial-armor in game.
Due to low on intelligence and wisdom, roles for a golem are usually limited to warriors/berserkers/etc. Strongest hitters in game (unless you read the previous paragraph), Golems can be tanks, and with good hp, They are a pinnacle of the brute races, but with a flaw - they are very difficult to heal. But, if you need a cleric while running a hero 101+ golem, you are probably doing it wrong. You are all sorts of bad.
Tanking EHA runs with a golem isn't terrible, because so many useless players choose to run small arcane brandishing alts (which is exactly the opposite of elite, but such is life on EHA runs).
An alternative uptake on the racial-construct issue is to make the golem itself a source of arcane healing - a mage or equiv, which will mean that every potion the golem drinks will heal double its supposed amount. In reality though, golem mages (while they do exist) are poor casters with mana puddles and prone to spell-casting failures.
(A mana puddle is a small mana pool.)
