Gith: The Githyanki and the Githzerai are hated enemies of each other but they are in reality members of the same base race. The differences between them are primarily ideological.
The Gith race are humanoid creatures that have existed on the planes for centuries. This planar affinity allows sufficiently powerful gith to call upon an innate ability to planeshift.
Giths have powerful intellects which make them adept at using magic of all varieties although they are especially strong with the psionic school. This allows them to imbue their regular physical attacks with mental damage.
They are a stealthy race and able to sneak well although they typically make poor archers.

Some players like to create Gith Berserker's to take advantage of racial planeshift. Among other things, this makes it possibly to solo at lord during hogs with your berserker.
Creation
Creating a Gith involves turning in a mindflayer scalp, which is a skin-corpse item from an ancient mindflayer in the leeches portion of Demi-plane Of Dread, accessed from Memory Lane. The room description looks like this:
The War of Dragons [Exits: north east south west up down] Vanity is the Dragon's birthright, and the vanity of the Son and Daughter of Quixoltan begot a tremendous War of Dragons that raged for Centuries, as Bahamut and Tiamat and their ilk both tried to claim Midgaardia as their own. (Flying) (Demonic) (Black Aura) A spiky web of black electricity envelopes you!
Killing the mob creates a sphere you can enter. The Ancient Mindflayer is in here.
The scalp is given to Z'ier Uku on the second-floor of Rietta's Wonders. He will also give you a githyanki bone staff.
